Hopefully, you had a good look at our selection. If you did, it’s obvious that all of the top hostels in Canggu are ideal for solo travelers.
Why? Every hostel has…
- A pool – perfect for socializing
- Superb shared dorms – an easy way to meet travelers
- Central location – easy beach access & option to meet locals
Yet the hostel that really stands out is our #1 Kos One Hostel.
There is good reason this is a 5-star hostel, after all. Not only does it offer the above-mentioned. It also organizes daily activities and weekly excursions.
What better way to break the ice and share experiences?
Start the day with morning yoga, and finish it with a drink at Happy Hour. Especially yoga classes are very popular. Make sure you join them; meeting fellow hostel friends is a good opportunity.
Female solo travelers can enjoy the single gender dorm. Other solo travelers also have a 4-bed cozy option. With tons of space to chill, it’s easy to enjoy your own company amongst others if you wish.

Many travelers do this actually: Sleep in a quiet hostel, party outside, and crawl back home.
Anyways, do you want to stay at a Canggu party hostel? Okay, okay, you got it!
4. Clandestino Hostel
Clandestino Hostel is amazing little gem of a hostel! This is also a very social hostel, without being too crazy. They have an amazing 10-meter swimming pool and 2 bars. The facilities are always clean and staff regularly check this throughout the day. They host different social events throughout the week which gives you a nice opportunity to get involved and socialise with the other guests.

Lay Day Surf Hostel
Lay Day Surf Hostel is here too.
In the heart of the small village, this hostel can’t resist throwing a party EVERY night around its four (yes, four!) outdoor pools!
The bar happens to be open all day, so poolside lazing with a beer in hand is encouraged.
There is a mix of 16 female-only and mixed dorms, plus two private villas for swanky couples. Enjoy an en-suite, air-con, and under-bed storage.
The party never stops due to the close proximity to nearby bars and nightlife. After starting the night by the pool, continue the fun at a local bar and meet even more travelers.
Choose one of the deluxe rooms to collapse into. Spend the day recovering, cuddled up on a beanbag in the sun. Sorted.
Important: Do not drive a scooter when you have had a few drinks! It is very, very risky. We are not your parents, but after spending one day in Bali, you will already hear stories of people having drunk accidents. The housemate of our friend lost a finger in such an accident. Do not risk it; taxis are cheap anyways!

More Hostels worth a mention
By now, we hope you are feeling pretty ‘WOW-ed’ by the best hostels in Canggu. These hostels are our personal favorites. There is no way around them.
And yet, it doesn’t stop there!
We have more great places to stay on a budget in Canggu to put on the map. After all, we want to cover all bases:
- Dip and Doze Boutique Hostel
- Canggu Castle
- Black Pearl Hostel
- Canggu Surf Hostel
- Tipsy Gypsy Hostel
- Castaway Hostel Canggu
Dip & Doze Boutique Hostel
For a laid-back and luxurious experience, Dip & Doze Boutique Hostel is the one.
For one thing, how enticing is the name?!
Take a dip in the outside pool, and doze on the communal rooftop in the sun. Just make sure you apply sun cream first!
We love how the kitchen has been placed overlooking the pool. Cooking has never been so fun.
Hop on a bike or stretch your legs. You’ll be enjoying Berawa’s Surf Break and Finns Beach Club within minutes.
Breakfast is free, linen included, and the bunks have stairs, not ladders.
There is no curfew, so come and go as you please. An absolute bonus when there’s an underground club just across the street.

Canggu Castle
Here is an example of a social hostel done right. Canggu Castle offers a chill poolside atmosphere where you can hang out and socialize with other trippers.
Join the party if you wish, but never feel pressured like major party hostels often do.
Instead, enjoy the quiet, leafy road away from the hustle and bustle of the city.
Dare to jump from the bridge to the pool? You only live once.
Meet others on the rooftop, in the bar, and in the bunk next to you.
Though if you prefer, you can pull the curtain across and escape into your shell for a bit. No one will judge.
A fresh, tropical beach feel will follow no matter which space you choose.

Black Pearl Hostel
Black Pearl is one of the nicest Bali hostels and you’d wish you’d never leave!
The beds are super comfy, and the staff is the nicest people. They always smile, and they sing along with the music. Everything is just chill and vibrant here.
It’s a great place for people who want to experience the ultimate beach life in Canggu.
Enjoy your leisure time by the pool area or hang out in the rooftop bar. Meet new people and socialize.
The room is not crowded, and every bunk has mini shelves for storage. All in all, it’s one of the laid-back Bali party places.
Just a quick note, they don’t accept Visa cards so get your cash ready just in case.

Canggu Surf Hotel – Surfers House
Surfers House has a great atmosphere, tasty breakfast, and exceptionally warm staff!
Enjoy exploring the beach by day and rest well in the comfy beds at night, with curtains, reading lights, and power sockets.
It gives off that village fell with a huge quiet backyard, a mango tree, and a hammock for that perfect afternoon siesta. You can even make your tea while you’re at it.
It’s also the perfect place to stay if you want to go and surf. They have excellent guides here to teach you the basics of surfing. Just schedule it with their instructors. It’s very efficient since they take care of all the rentals, transportation, and other.
Perhaps one of the best things about Surfers Hostel is its location to everything. It’s near the beach, it’s near the cafes; it’s even near to the one thing you need most – a currency exchange store!
That being said, getting your money exchanged directly from the ATM is always better. We do not recommend bringing your own currency and changing it in Bali. There is usually a much worse exchange rate.

Tipsy Gypsy Hostel
Perfect for solo travelers! True to its name, the Tipsy Gypsy Hostel is the traveler’s home in Bali. The bar area by the pool is the best way to mingle with other guests.
The staff are amazing; you can see them smile and enjoy their work. They really make their guest feel at home!
It may seem small, but the beds are clean and equipped with privacy curtains. The bathrooms and showers are connected to the room, so there’s no hassle at all.
You can even carry your beer to the pool and socialize with everyone.

Castaway Hostel Canggu
Castaway Hostel is one of the best Bali hostels there is! It was perfect for me, who likes a little bit of fun party but also loves my decent amount of sleep.
The beds are awesome, and the tropical heat was bearable because of the working AC! The owner is also very warm and handpicked all the best people to work in the hostel, which meant more than satisfying service.
The hostel’s layout is very nice, and the beds are extremely comfortable; you can just melt into them.
If you want to hang out by the pool, you can! Castaway Hostel feels more like a villa where you get to know everyone and be friends with them.
You can also stroll the beach, explore the main street, and just get lost in Canggu!
By the time you get back to your hostel, you are welcomed with a small party that’s absolutely perfect for socializing.
