3. Hotel Petén Express

Located on the shores of Lake Peten Itza, Hotel Petén Express offers budget accommodation with the capacity to host up to 32 guests. All five shared rooms are equipped with air conditioning and a private bathroom with basic amenities. The hostel features a nice and spacious terrace, a shared lounge area, as well as a restaurant and bar.

One thing that makes this accommodation option unique is the jacuzzi and the two pools available for use. This is a great way to unwind after a long day spent outside, exploring the beauty of Flores, although it is frequently mentioned that there’s no social atmosphere.

Although the guests give this hostel a high grade for the quality breakfast it provides, as well as the helpfulness of the staff, there are certain things they seem to dislike. For example, one guest stated in a review that the dorm room they resided in didn’t have windows, which makes it hard to ventilate. Another review said that the rooms are not spacious overall (they find it hard to fit their backpack there) and that the hosts don’t provide you with a key. The guests suspect this is a trick to make people pay the fee for having a personal locker within the room, since you’re forced to sleep with unlocked doors.

Location: This hostel is located within the Isla de Flores on the shores of Lake Petén Itzá.
