Kuta is one of the bustling Indonesian coastal tourist areas. Known for its party-centric vibes and beautiful stretches of beaches, it is a great place for party and nature lovers worldwide.
The area is filled with busy streets, markets, bars, and beach clubs. Its convenient location near the airport makes it a suitable destination for planning your trip to Bali. It is also the very first on your Bali adventure. All planes arrive to Kuta, basically.

Kuta Beach was once a small fishing village in the south of the island. But after some time, people eventually found out about the vast stretches of sandy beaches and surf areas, so they couldn’t resist coming here for a vacation time and again.
As a result, this area is currently known as a popular tourist hotspot and is now home to several bars, hotels, restaurants, and hostels.
Personally, we also prefer Ulutwatu, south of Kuta. Check out here the best hostels in Uluwatu.

Quick Introduction to Kuta Bali
Average price for a bed: Hostels in Kuta Bali cost 3€ – 11€ per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room starts from 13€ up to 24€ per night. This is a rough average just to give you an idea.
Prices always depend on season and holidays. Please always check exact rates on Hostelz.com or Hostelworld.com.
Check-In and Check Out: The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:00 (11am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
Safety in Kuta Bali: Kuta is known for its festive atmosphere, but it can be dangerous. Be mindful of your safety and take precautions, such as not leaving your drinks unattended, when out in the area.
Best time to visit Kuta in Bali: During April to August, Kuta’s west-facing beaches offer some of the best waves, with easterly winds prevailing. In contrast, from October to March, the monsoonal months, it’s not uncommon to experience a combination of westerly winds and river overflow from the highlands and Java, leading to the presence of flotsam and jetsam.
Personal Note: We from Hostelgeeks are not a big fan of Kuta Bali. The city is okay and nice to explore, yes. But Bali has much better areas such as the obvious choice of Canggu and Ubud. We recommend staying here for max 1 day and then move on. Again, just our personal preference.
