Nha Trang offers backdrops of towering rocky cliffs and high-rise hotels that mix in with verdant hills and an aquamarine sea. Although the city is mainly known for its beach and wild underwater sceneries, its terrestrial life is as interesting, boosting history, culture, and wild nightlife.
The best hostels in Nha Trang are close to the beach and its exquisite landscape and will serve as the perfect base to explore everything the city offers.
Whether you are looking for a Nha Trang backpacker hostel that offers a highly social atmosphere or a more laid-back one, you’ll find your match with one of the three best hostels in Nha Trang in this list.

While Nha Trang is home to the first Vietnamese beach to be recognized by UNESCO, its beauty stems from much more than its beaches. The city has 19 stunning islands that you shouldn’t miss out on, each home to a wild variety of marine life and rare species. We recommend checking out the Hon Mun Marine protected area – one of the first marine protected areas in the world!
In the area, we also recommend checking out the best hostels in Da Lat.
Nha Trang was first developed as a primary tourist destination in Vietnam very early on, and its economy heavily relies on tourism, which is why some of the best hostels in Nha Trang are also some of the best in the country. Fishing is also quite important in the city, so explore a lot and eat fish adequately.
This guide is perfect for YOU, when you…
- are tired of crappy hostels!
- want a social Hostel to actually meet people
- are happy to spend $1 to $2 more for a much better experience

Quick Introduction to Nha Trang
Average price for a bed: Hostels in Nha Trang cost 4€ – 18€ per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room starts from 15€ up to 21€ per night. This is a rough average, just to give you an idea.
Price range depends on the season and holidays. Please always check the exact rates on Hostelz.com or Hostelworld.com.
Check-In and Check-Out: The average check-in time is from 13:00 (1 pm), while the Check-Out time is before 11:30 (11:30 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
How to get around: Transport is very affordable throughout the country, and Nha Trang is no exception. You’ll have the option to hire a scooter or bicycle in most of the hostels you go to, and staff will usually know someone that can be hired to drive you around for a reasonable price if you ask them. There is also public transport available, but schedules aren’t very reliable.
Budget tip: If you’re new to Nha Trang or Vietnam, you should always keep the power of bargaining in mind! Foreigners tend to be charged more than locals, from street food to taxi rides, so make sure to ask for a lower price when it’s not marked. A good practice would be to ask your Nha Trang hostel staff for the price estimate of what you intend to buy.
Tipping: Depending on where you’re coming from, tipping might be part of your daily life or not at all. In Vietnam, tipping is very much optional but well appreciated when given.
Food: Don’t be afraid to take a seat in the tiny red chairs you’ll find on the road; eating at a street kitchen is probably one of the best things you can do in Nha Trang. We recommend trying out two local culinary specialties: bánh canh chả cá (thick tapioca noodles with fish paddies) and bún cá sứa (rice vermicelli with jellyfish).

1. Bondi Backpackers Nhatrang
Bondi Backpackers Nhatrang is the go-to Nha Trang hostel for backpackers looking for a highly social atmosphere. While you’ll find that most hostels in Nha Trang lack communal spaces, this one has:
- a restaurant bar with its own small terrace
- a relatively big reception area with large couches
- a spacious upper-level mezzanine
- a bar-restaurant with a terrace overlooking the city
Alternatively, although their pool is small, it offers a nice way to cool down or tan within hostel grounds!
A social atmosphere is heavily promoted thanks to the free shots they give their guests every day at 6 pm and the fact that they organize many group tours throughout Nha Trang and its surroundings.
The staff is very friendly and accommodating and will gladly help you book or schedule the rest of your trip in Vietnam.
One thing to note about this hostel in Nha Trang is that the internet speed is quite slow and gets slower the higher you climb in the building.
And, although they offer free breakfast, I didn’t enjoy it because it didn’t include much and was served too early – especially for a heavily social and party hostel where people don’t go to sleep early.
Location: A 10-minute walk from the beach, close to many cafes and restaurants. A couple of street vendors directly face this Nha Trang hostel, where you can get a Bánh mì or morning coffee. Nearby points of interest include the Nha Trang Cathedral, the shopping mall, and the beach. The general area is popular with backpackers, so you’ll find most activities taking place here.

2. Tabalo Hostel
Tabalo Hostel is a lovely little hostel located on a quiet side street with plenty of charms and is one of the best hostels in Nha Trang.
Although this accommodation doesn’t have a lot of communal spaces, its overall atmosphere promotes warmth and friendliness, and you’ll find that meeting fellow travelers there (especially for female solo travelers) is relatively easy.
This isn’t a party hostel: it feels more like a home away from home in all senses of the term.
Instead of a key, guests are given a waterproof armband that they can scan to access their floors, rooms, and lockers.
The rooms themselves have a wooden accent and are cabin-style. You should find them large enough to accommodate you comfortably, but the space might get cramped if you’re traveling with large suitcases.
As for their rooftop, it isn’t well furnished, but I recommend checking it out: it offers fantastic panoramic views of the city, especially at sunrise and sunset.
While the hostel doesn’t really provide food, there is a famous restaurant with the locals right on its doorsteps that offers a variety of delicious Vietnamese dishes in the afternoon, as well as a street vendor perpendicular to the street that starts to sell some of the city’s tastiest Bánh mì as soon as the sun isn’t at its peak.
Location: Centrally located hostel in Nha Trang, a 5-minute walk from the beach and the night market. Convenient location to take part in sightseeing and tours, and next to a few cafes and restaurants.
This is one of the best hostels in Nha Trang for:
- Female Solo Travelers
- Warm-cocoon seekers

3. The Alley Hostel
If you prefer spending cozy and quieter nights, then this family-run hostel in Nha Trang should provide you with the perfect comfortable beds and atmosphere to do so.
Rooms are equipped with their own private bathrooms and have a maximum of four beds.
Although The Alley Hostel is small and doesn’t really have a common area, its size allows for an easy familiarity to form between travelers, which is why it is one of the best hostels in Nha Trang.
The staff is also quite friendly and will treat you like a member of their own family, making sure that you enjoy your trip and suggesting things to do in Nha Trang.
Location: Centrally located in downtown Nha Trang. The hostel’s street is quiet, but it is a short walk away from many nearby bars, restaurants, and the main beach strip. There are also lots of coffee shops and grocery stores in the area. Popular nearby points of interest include the Tram Huong tower, the shopping mall, and the beach.

What about the cheapest hostels in Nha Trang?
Of course, there are always cheap hostels. But how do you actually find them? When you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you want to save every dollar, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Nha Trang.
- Open Hostelz.com with a full list of all hostels in Nha Trang
- add your dates
- Order the listings by price
Simple as that.
Hostelz.com is a price comparison site for hostels. They list every single one in the world and tells you exactly which website is cheaper to use.
Another smart Tip: Check what is actually included, and what is excluded. Take a closer look at the location, too. A further location might mean more costs in transport.
