This is the largest salt mine in the country, with edges rustled by volcanoes, which occupies a surface 100km long and 80km wide. The Solar de Atacama is a result of the surfacing of underground waters that over time have saturated with the mineral salts they contain. Through the process of evaporation, this leaves a hard layer of salts and minerals that creates a distinctive landscape that you won’t be able to see anywhere else.
