1. Fabrika Hostel Tbilisi (Our top choice!)

Let your wandering feet lead you to the coolest hostels in Georgia; Fabrika Hostel.

It’s a fun mix of industrial, soviet, and vintage with a dash of modern undertones. Sounds a bit hip, and it is!

The team here is made up of adventurers and explorers at heart, and they want to connect you with the local scene.

In fact, they are so ambitious that they claim you’ll be saying

“OMG that was the best travel experience I’ve ever had!”

So come on, let’s have a look at why this bold claim might well come true:

  • Hostel bar & restaurant
  • Co-working spaces
  • Events & activities (free walking tours, tango party)

Actually, the list of what you can find here does indeed go on and on. There’s yoga, poetry and digital nomad meet ups, just to name a few more.

The huge lounge area is complete with hammocks, sofas and tons of natural light flooding in. There’s the free wifi too for the digital nomads.

And although the dorm beds are pretty basic, you may find yourself hanging out in there quite a bit. Especially if you opt for a 12-bed mixed.

That’s because the spaces are big, bright and include personal details (light, socket) and a communal table area.

If you prefer a more intimate setting, choose the 3, 4 or 6-bed dorm. Single, twin and double rooms are also available!

They also have private rooms if you want the ultimate privacy.

For families: consider the apartment-style suite suitable for 4 people.

Location: inside a former soviet sewing factory in the historic part of Tbilisi City. Marjanishvili Metro Station is just 600m away, that’s only short minute walk.

2. Gallery Hostel Tbilisi

Moving swiftly on to our #2 recommendation, Gallery Hostel Tbilisi.

This building once acted as the most important (and first) Bolshevik printing house.

Now it’s a budget hostel offering high-end European standards. We love the homely spaces!

This hostel has a beautifully designed living room area with a smart-TV, big windows and sitting area. It looks and feels just a modern home.

Alongside that there is a well-equipped kitchen area for all to use.

Fancy some fresh air? Head to one of the two balconies on either side of the building.

We suggest hanging out on the one overlooking an Italian common yard that sits betwen several buildings.

Room choices include:

  • Double room w/ private bathroom
  • Twin room w/ Queen bed + ensuite
  • Twin room w/ twin beds + external private bathroom
  • 8-bed mixed dorm

The dorm is lovely and big, with huge lockers, personal light and shelf for all!

It really doesn’t matter what time you arrive, either. Reception is open 24/7.

Tip: though the breakfast isn’t free, they offer a really generous start to the day. It’s definitely worth spending a few extra coins.

Location: Gallery is located 60 meters from the dry bridge flee market, 5 minutes walk to Rustaveli avenue (Opera house and parliament) and 8 minutes to Liberty Square.

3. Envoy Hostel Tbilisi

Who’s up for breathtaking Georgian views from a big rooftop terrace? We realize for some this could be the winning ingredient.

Envoy Hostel is in the middle of the Old Town area, the place to be if you’re interested in the history.

Everything has been designed with the modern traveler in mind. That means clean, well thought out spaces.

Let’s start with the extensive room choices:

  • 4, 6 & 8-bed mixed dorms
  • 6-bed female dorm
  • Twin, double & triple privates
  • Family room (4 people)

After a good night’s sleep you can look forward to a tasty free breakfast on the rooftop.

Other great perks of staying here include a brand new shared kitchen, discount on tours and reliable Wifi.

The common room is a nice place to unwind if you’ve had a busy day exploring the local area. You’ll no doubt find friendly staff about to talk to and find out local tips.

They’re around 24/7 to keep you safe and happy!

Location: it’s just a 5-minute walk to the must-see Narikala Fortress. The main train station is a 5-minute drive and there is free parking on the premises.

What about cheapest hostels in Tbilisi?

Of course, there are always cheap hostels.

We think, it’s not worth it to go with the cheapest hostel out there.

Why?

The difference is usually 1-2€ ($1-2) per night, and a lot of amenities are not included. This can be breakfast or linen.

However, if you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you wanna save every penny, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Tbilisi.

  1. Open Hostelworld with full list of budget places to stay in Tbilisi
  2. Order the listing by price

Simple as that.

Best Hostels in Tbilisi for Solo Travelers?

What is seriously the best hostel in Tbilisi for solo-travellers?

This is easily our #1, Fabrika Hostel.

In fact, we’d also like to name this as your answer to the best party hostel Tbilisi has to offer.

Thanks to the on-site bar and organized activities, socializing is made easy for all. Though because it isn’t technically named a party hostel, it allows for a decent night’s sleep and little disturbance.

Solo travelers can enjoy a range of dorms, from large 12-bed to a much cozier 3-bed.

There’s plenty of space to do your own thing, ideal for the more introverted solo traveler on a mission of self-discovery.

Best Party Hostels in Tbilisi

To travel is to experience great things, including partying. It’s much better to stay in a place where the party is alive to really see how they do it in Tbilisi.

Fabrika Hostel & Suites

I know, I know. We’ve pretty much exhaust Fabrika Hotel & Suites in all the best categories. We can’t help it. It’s just that good.

The vintage atmosphere is awesome and a great place to hang out and socialize with other travelers.

The hostel has a massive lounge that you and the other guests can stay in to just chill, have some drinks, and just celebrate life.

The bar is amazing, the lounge too, more so are the cocktail!

Wine Khinkali Rock & Roll

Wine Khinkali Rock & Roll is unarguably in love with music and sound.

It has a great mood and atmosphere. It’s cozy too. You can drink some beer, meet other people, while listening to some pretty sick music in the background.

If you have the gift, you can take the mic and give the stage a go too. The energy here is amazing and infectious. It’s not even uncommon for people here to stay for a longer time than they planned because it has the ability to grow on you.

Leaving has never been easy but I never thought it’d be this hard too.

Valiko Hostel & Bar

Update: Valiko has changed its name to L’ADO by Valiko Mansion and is now just a bar.

Valiko Hostel & Bar, from the name itself is a great place to get booze, have fun, and meet new people.

The place has a pretty cool bar and beautiful balconies. There are also lots of restaurants and other bars nearby that you can chill.

You’ll feel the homey vibe in this hostel. It’s a museum hostel where everything is a gem and treasure, especially the people you meet.

Being it a hostel bar, they don’t accept customers younger than 18 years of age. The bar is also in a mansion, it’d make you think that your drinking with the Queen.

More Unique Hostels worth a Mention

Ok, before we let you go, there’s two more options that offer a different experience.

  • Alcatraz Jail-Hostel

Alcatraz Jail-Hostel

The first one entails sleeping in a jail cell. Alcatraz Jail-Hostel takes hosteling to a whole new level!

The jail decoration is really detailed and a lot of effort has gone in to make it feel real. You’ll even find orange onesies and old-style pictures hanging on the wall.

It’s honestly quite eerie and possibly not for the faint-heated. But don’t worry, they won’t really lock you in. As long as you’re good.

Choose between a shared cell or a private with double bed.

Regular hostel amenities include a BBQ area, 24hr check-in, terrace and shared kitchen.

UPDATE: Velosipedi Capsule Hostel

Sorry everyone, this hostel does not accept bookings at the moment.

Forget a typical hostel, Velosipedi Capsule Hostel is more like a little multi functional creative spot.

In 2018 traditional Georgian architecture and recycled elements started to blend, and an ancient building in the city centre of Tbilisi became a hostel!

Just like what it says on the tin, the beds here are in capsule form for ultimate privacy. In fact, the only room type on offer here is a 6-bed mixed dorm.

Get excited for the beds which include:

  • Privacy curtain
  • Personal reading light
  • 2x shelves & locker
  • Orthopedic mattress
  • Hi-speed internet connection

Note: there is an option to pay a little extra to have a buffet breakfast included.

Yet, we urge you to peel yourself away from your cocoon to enjoy what else this hostel has to offer.

On-site there is also a bar, restaurant and tea house.

Sip on a cold beer for 1€ or teat yourself to a home-made cake and coffee for a little extra. It’s an ideal spot to catch up on work, too.

Location: in the centre of the Georgian capital, walking distance from most of the top sights. It’s a 3-minute stroll to the handy Marjanishvili Metro Station.

You can also check the Freedom square that’s only a few kilometers away.

CLOSED: Marco Polo Hostel

Update: This hostel has permanently closed. We’ve kept this content here for your information.

Marco Polo Hostel is sort of located in the old Tbilisi. It’s just neighbors to the airport bus, metro station, and the opera house! I repeat, opera house! So much show to watch when you’re not traveling.

We don’t actually have to say more, its name precedes its reputation. Travelers have in fact hailed it as The Best  Georgia Hostel two years in a row.

The owners and the staff are warm and they give you the best tips of the things you can do in the city. The surrounding feels touristy but inside the hostel, everything is different.

The vibe is homey and the beds are comfortable too. If you want to extend your stay, you can use their laundry facilities to make sure you never run out of clothes to wear.

It’s perfect for Tbilisi digital nomads and backpackers around the globe.
