Quick Introduction to Valencia
Average price for a bed: Hostels in Valencia start from 12€ per night up to 25€ per night for a bed in a dorm. A private room starts from 38€ up to 90€. This is a rough average just to give you an idea.
The prices in summer, especially in July and August can be much higher.
Prices always depend on the season and holidays. Please always check the exact rates on Hostelworld.com or Booking.com.
Check-In and Check-Out: The average check-in time is from 15:00 (3 pm), while the check-out time is before 11:00 (11 am). Hostels usually offer luggage storage in case you arrive earlier or leave later. Make sure you check if luggage storage is free or if there is an extra cost.
Location you should choose: The City Center and the area called “Russafa” are the best areas to stay in Valencia. Russafa is more the Hipster area, while the city center is home to the main sights like the old town itself and the Bull Fighting Arena.
Tourism Tax: There is a special tourism tax of 10%. Some hostels include it already in their prices, while others charge it afterward on top. Keep an eye on this to avoid a nasty surprise.
Las Fallas Festival in Valencia: Planning to visit Las Fallas? It’s an epic festival mid of March. Make sure you book as soon as possible; the city is super busy at that time.

Up! Hostel Valencia is a very good combination of location in the city center, very friendly and tolerant staff, very clean rooms and very comfortable “huge” beds which allow complete relaxation and comfort of guests. The door system is a bit annoying – you have to download an app – but at least it’s safe!
We loved that the beds each have sliding curtains and that the under bed storage was nice and big. The electric sockets are within every bed. The communal area is nice and bright and you can meet a lot of interesting people here.

What about cheapest hostels in Valencia?
Of course, there are always cheap hostels.
We think, it’s not worth it to go with the cheapest hostel out there.
Why?
The difference is usually 1-2€ ($1-2) per night, and a lot of amenities are not included. This can be breakfast or linen.
Also, many so-called “hostales” in Spain are NOT hostels. These are simply guesthouses. There you won’t meet anyone, or find any social vibes.
However, if you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you wanna save every penny, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Valencia.
- Open Hostelworld with full list of budget places to stay in Valencia
- Order the listing by price
Simple as that.
Make sure you use then the other filters and rank per price. Also keep a close eye on the ratings, especially the “extreme ratings”. Meaning, the best and worst. These ratings can give great insight on what to expect.
Best Hostels in Valencia for Solo Travellers?
What is the serious, best hostel in Valencia for solo-travellers?
As a solo-traveller, you should keep an eye on the social characteristics of a hostel. For instance, free dinner nights like Home Youth hostels organizes is great sign.
Our top two choices for best hostels in Valencia for solo-travellers are:

The difference between these two places are the location and the modern design. Cantagua is the more stylish and higher quality option.
