What about the cheapest hostels in Venice?
Of course, there are always cheap hostels. But how do you actually find them? When you are traveling on a shoe-string budget and you want to save every dollar, there are ways to find the cheapest places in Venice.
- Open Hostelz.com with a full list of all hostels in Venice
- add your dates
- Order the listings by price
Simple as that.
Hostelz.com is a price comparison site for hostels. They list every single one in the world and tells you exactly which website is cheaper to use.
Another smart Tip: Check what is actually included, and what is excluded. Take a closer look at the location, too. A further location might mean more costs in transport.
Hostels Location (Please Read!)
By now we shared with you our recommended where to stay in Venice on a budget. You see, there are some serious cool options.
If you happened to search for ‘places to stay in Venice cheap’, you’re sorted!
However, please give this next part a read. It is important for you to understand the location of all the different hostels.
First of all: Main Venice is basically an island, divided by its canals and connected by thousands of tiny bridges.
If you want to go to mainland Italy, you can take a quick train. You can also take a boat bus over to other islands.
The most important part: All 3 Venice Italy hostels are located in three different locations:
- Main Island: Combo Venezia (former We Crociferi)
- Giudecca Island: Generator Hostel
- Main Land: Anda Venice
Please refer to the map below to see details.
While we think ALL three hostels here are seriously cool, our absolute favorite location is Combo Hostel.
Why?
Simple: You can go out at night and just walk back. With Generator Hostel you will need to take a bus boat and check the schedule. The same goes for Anda Venice.
Again, both are fantastic hostels. Yet, we think the location of Combo Venezia is more practical.
Good to know: Combo Hostel is also the only hostel with Canal Views!

Tips for Exploring Venice
We’ve explored Venice and had a great time. Here are a few ideas to help you make the best of your time in this beautiful romantic destination.
Get Lost
No, no we don’t mean clicking the X button of this article. We’re not quite finished yet!
What we mean is; get lost in Venice. Don’t be afraid to walk down that alleyway no one else is going down and don’t fear getting lost.
Venice is unique because it’s basically a maze and you’ll no doubt go round in circles once or twice.
Top tip: There is no need to grab a map from the tourist information center. The map costs a few EURs anyway.
However, make sure you know when the bus, train, or boat is leaving.
Have fun and only use a map when absolutely necessary, such as when you’re running late for the bus!
Be Price Aware
It’s no secret that Venice is a tourist hotspot. With tourism comes high prices, especially with sought-after goodies such as pizza and gelato.
If you’re travelling on a budget it’s worth spending that extra time to locate a fairly-priced restaurant.
Honestly, it’s impossible to find bad pizza in Italy, but it is possible to spend a fortune if you’re not careful.
Swap a quiet alleyway restaurant for the popular one in Piazza San Marco, for instance.
Even better: pack a lunch for the day, treat yourself to an ice cream on the islands, and head out for dinner on the mainland to avoid crowds and high prices.
