Hanoi, Capital of Vietnam

Here are our travel photos from Hanoi. We started our trip in the North and travelled all the way to the South. Whether you are backpacking Vietnam from the South to North or vice Versa, it does not make a big difference.

Best recommendation would be to check the weather and let it decide. We decided to go from cold to warmer weather. Here is our guide comparing the best hostels in Hanoi.

Ha Long Bay and Cat Ba

The Ha Long Bay is the pearl of the North. The endless lime stones are dotted around the sea. Taking a cruise along them is popular.

We joined a private cruise tour by Woodstock Beach Camp. Together with four more travelers we immersed into a different world.

Here are the travel photos from Ha Long Bay, Vietnam.

Da Nang

Da Nang might be the most underrated city in this country. It is the big brother of Hoi An. It has always been in the shadow of the small, precious, beautiful village of Hoi An.

Nevertheless, our journey took us to Da Nang. We felt in love.

From the beautiful Hai Van Pass you can drive down the mountain, with a view of panoramic Da Nang.

We stayed for more than three weeks. We soak in the ambiance, it’s delicious coffee shops, beachy vibes.

This is a city to experience and to see the growing Giant of Vietnam.

Highly recommended: The Memory Hostel in Da Nang. It is the 5 Star Hostel in the city.

It even comes with a roof top terrace, overlooking the river and the fire-spitting dragon.

Kon Tum, Vietnam

Kon Tum is a tiny city up the mountains. You may pass it when you decide to ride the Ho Chi Minh road. We stopped here.

It was wonderful.

No tourists, just a bustling local life.

The hotels were especially cheap and the quality high.

As a western traveler, the locals are amazed to see you. Not many tourists come here. In fact, we have not seen a single traveler soul in five days staying here.

Can Ram, Vietnam

A true gem, a hidden paradise. This is the place where we took really beautiful pictures of Vietnam!

We were stranded here by total accident. Coming from Nha Trang (We have an amazing best hostel guide for this city that you can check out), we ran out of time and light. The sun was going down. The motorbikes had no working lights on them. I was actually riding with a headlight around my head.

Funny enough, right?!

I only saw my iPhone screen and a tiny icon on Google Maps pointing: Accommodation.

This was our goal. We reached for it, arrived, and woke up 2 meters away from the ocean.

This is the magic of Vietnam. There is always something you can explore, and the best plan for Vietnam is not having any plan!
